Summary of the Digital Transformation Summit 2025 (DTS25) Article
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is hosting the Digital Transformation Summit 2025 (DTS25), Papua New Guinea's second-largest digital event of the year, from November 24-27 at the Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby. The four-day gathering aims to advance PNG's digital ecosystem by expanding services, fostering connectivity, and streamlining government access for citizens.
Key highlights include demonstrations of innovative digital tools like SevisPass, SevisWallet, and SevisDex, which promise to simplify daily life and enhance public services. Sessions will feature insights from ICT leaders on topics such as digital governance, data security, cloud computing, AI applications in public administration, and leveraging ICT for efficient citizen and business support.
The summit emphasizes youth and community engagement through interactive elements like gaming and coding competitions, hackathons, and digital skills workshops. Content creators will share stories on ethical platform use, while discussions cover 5G deployment, radio spectrum management, and cybercrime mitigation. Innovations from universities, private firms, and government bodies will showcase technology's role in elevating services, commerce, and livelihoods.
Acting ICT Minister Hon. Peter Tsiamalili Jr. underscored the event's people-centric focus: “We prefer to listen and engage in dialogue with our students and youth rather than reprimand and distance them from us. At the end of the day, digital transformation is ultimately about people.”
The summit wraps up with partnership signings, awards for participants, and a gala dinner honoring PNG's 50th independence anniversary and its digital roadmap ahead. Overall, DTS25 seeks to unite government officials, youth, and innovators in collaborative learning to build a more connected, inclusive, and digitally resilient Papua New Guinea.
